Where does Bony transfer rank on all-time EPL list?

- 1. Fernando Torres Liverpool to Chelsea, £50m

WILFRIED BONY’S £28million fee from Swansea to Manchester City is the joint-seventh most expensive transfer between two English clubs. Here we look at the previous deals and how they worked out. THE Spanish striker appeared to have the world at his feet when he reached 50 league goals faster than any player in Liverpool’s illustrious history.

Torres scored 81 goals in 142 games for the Reds but he never recaptured that form after Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich made him English football’s most expensive signing in January 2011. His goals return dropped alarmingly in London as he scored only 20 times in 110 league games, and he headed to Milan in August 2014, signing a permanent deal there this month before rejoining his first club Atletico Madrid on loan. SHAW completed his remarkable rise from Southampton trainee to the most expensive teenager in British football history when he joined Manchester United in June 2014.

The dashing left-back impressed so much under Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton that he ended up forcing his way into Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Injuries have restricted his progress at Old Trafford since his move and he has made only nine starts in the Premier League, but he does not turn 20 until July and has plenty of time on his side. THE Belgium frontman started only once for Chelsea in the league after his £ 18m switch from Anderlecht in 2011 but he enjoyed successful loan spells at West Brom ( 2012- 13) and Everton ( 2013- 14), where he scored a combined total of 33 goals in 71 appearances.

Did not fit the central striking bill for Jose Mourinho and Everton were keen to turn last season’s loan deal into a permanent one. They did so by paying a club-record fee and, after a slow start where he often struggled to replicate the form he showed while on loan, he has finally begun to hit his stride in recent weeks.
