Woman robbed of cellphone, stabbed to death in Parklands
POLICE are investigating the murder of a Table View woman who died in hospital after being robbed and stabbed in Stepney Road, Parklands, on Wednesday evening.
After being alerted by a local security company, the Parklands Neighbourhood Watch called the police and an ambulance.
The victim, 24- year- old Tsholofelo Monica Codi, was robbed of her cellphone and stabbed several times by an unknown suspect.
She was transported to Somerset West Hospital where she died of her injuries around midnight.
Parklands Neighbourhood Watch chairman Gary le Roux said Codi had been walking home from work when she was attacked. She had stab wounds to her chin and neck.
He said that after the attack their members, along with local security companies in the Parklands surrounds, combed the area but had not found the suspect.
“Crime is rife in Parklands and Sunningdale and the Parklands Neighbourhood Watch puts out massive man hours every month, day and night, in patrols, visible stand-offs and operations with SAPS and local security companies to try and curb this situation.
“We cannot do it alone and call on all residents to actively get involved, so together we can make a safer community for all to live in,” Le Roux said.
Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut confirmed that Codi had “succumbed to her injuries” after being stabbed during the robbery, and said a murder case was being investigated.
He said no arrests had been made yet.
“The circumstances surrounding the matter are still under investigation, and finer aspects of the matter are yet to be established,” Traut said.
