High on the hog in an English country garden
Travel2014
CONGRATULATIONS to Rose Milbank of Fish Hoek for her picture of a hedgehog in a Salisbury garden in the UK.
While growing up in South Africa, Milbank said she always dreamed of seeing a real hedgehog. “I found this dear little creature in the garden one morning.
“He was a timid little fellow and not at all concerned by my presence.” Milbank wins a midweek night’s stay for four in Montagu Springs.
The runners-up are Christine Wallace of Swellendam for her picture of the Basilica of St Michel in France and Gary Wepener of Plattekloof Glen for his photo of a bird nesting at Koelenhof wine farm in Stellenbosch.
Wallace visited the south of France. “We had a few hours between trains and spent them walking to some historical sites. The Basilica of St Michel is in Bordeaux. It has a separate bell tower.”
Wepener picnicked at Koelenhof wine farm. “We observed this bird for hours.”
