Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition)
Stop the constant moaning, Tony
ANDREW Donaldson ( A Famous Grouse, Weekend Argus, August 15) took the words right out of our hypothetical mouths (would that we were able to express ourselves in the same way and with the same wit) regarding Tony Ehrenreich’s constant moaning, whingeing, whining, harping and complaining “like a stuck record”, about the “all-white” Springboks, not to mention his “mewling calls” for Heyneke Meyer’s dismissal and his “waffling on” about how white players are “‘out of their positions”.
In the same edition was a picture of the South African waterpolo team, which looks to be completely white. Why doesn’t Tony Ehrenreich get into the swim and demand that a percentage of blacks be included in that team as well?
Even if he is scared they might drown, he should insist that teams are chosen on demographics and not on merit.
After all, that is the South African way. We don’t care about ability or experience. All we care about is the colour of your skin. It’s called “Reverse Racism”. Look at our ANC government. The fact that so many of them are corrupt and incapable of doing a job and take responsibility for nothing (as the country sinks into a quagmire) is not the issue.
Actually, as a white South African, I demand more white representation in our soccer teams. Does Mr Ehrenreich think it’s okay that that’s a “black” sport?
Why is he so quiet on that point? Or is Mr Ehrenreich too busy, besides his constant inconsequential spouting about rugby, organising strikes and disruptions and turning a blind eye to what the ANC is not doing regarding sport, education, employment, crime, health care, the economy, roads, tourism, SAA, the post office, e-tolls, Eskom and, of course, Nkandla?
Is his mandate simply to justify his overlarge salary by trying to stir up what his compatriot, Andile Lili, throws – and to attempt to popularise his political position by pretending to play ball with the poverty-stricken? (In this respect, he plays the same game as Julius Malema).
But back to sport and Andrew Donaldson, whose weekly column also appears online in Politicsweb.
The following statement was made on it this week: “We are outraged at the lack of transformation in South African chess. We, the Black Chess Association, will not rest until the white team on the board is replaced with black players.”
Mr Ehrenreich should definitely check this.
