Real estate induction course offers basics in property career

-

A THREE- DAY i nduction course being offered by the Institute of Estate Agents Western Cape from Wednesday to Friday will offer those who are starting a career or thinking about a career in property an advantageous basic understanding of how the property industry works, says Annette Evans, regional general manager of the institute.

“It is highly recommended for all newcomers to the property industry who want to know what is needed to get started in a real estate career. Some private individuals who are considering a change to careers in the property industry will benefit, as well as agents who have left the industry and want to return. This course is also aimed at helping agents who are about to begin their FETC Real Estate NQF4 Qualification training. Many of the assignments work in parallel with the logbook which is now compulsory for all new fidelity fund holders,” says Evans.

The course will run from 9am to 4pm each day and costs R1 750 for members of the institute or R1 950 for non-members. Classes will be held at the IEASA training centre, at 10 Howard Place, Sheldon Way, Pinelands.

Topics to be covered will include:

● Property contracts and the law. ● Property finance. ● Canvassing; profiling sellers and buyers; property listings, obtaining mandates, marketing a property. ● Negotiation skills. ● The agent’s personal business plan.

Evans says that agents need to start their FETC in Real Estate NQF4 Qualification by means of a full training programme. This is offered at the IEASA-WC training venue for intern agents, to comply with the mandatory requirements of obtaining the qualification within 24 months of having first been registered as an intern and issued an intern fidelity fund certificate.
