Prawns and horses? Sounds like a posh day at the track

-

EATING loads of prawns while watching thoroughbreds race is the order of business at Kenilworth Racecourse today.

Seafood and horseracing creates a fine mix in the Mother City, as it forms part of the Summer of Champions series and thrills the big crowd at one of the most anticipated events of the Cape season.

Unlike the J& B Met that provoked an uproar in some circles due to the non- stop music throughout the day, a calmer crowd who enjoy live entertainment at an acceptable level are expected to dig into their choice of periperi, lemon butter or garlicbuttered Crustaceans and rice.

Add the two Grade 3 races on the card, the Vasco Prix du Cap and the CTS Chairman’s Cup, and one has a worldclass outing on hand not to be missed.

“The family fun day offers racegoers a chance to win appliance giveaways to the value of R50 000 which includes a grand prize for one lucky person of appliances to the value of R20 000.

“Winners will be drawn throughout the day in the winner’s circle and prize winners will need to be present in order to claim prizes, as well as have a valid ID or driver’s licence,” said Kenilworth marketing manager Jenna Potgieter.

“Gates open at 11am and entrance is free. Bring the whole family and let the children enjoy a host of kid’s entertainment.”
