Celebrating one million injury-free work hours
ACTIVE MECHANICAL SERVICES SPOKESPERSON Active Mechanical Services (AMS) is celebrating one million injury-free man hours of mechanical and civil engineering contracting.
With 29 years' experience, covering all aspects of the design supply, fabrication, on-site erection and commissioning of projects this is an achievement to be proud of.
Established in 1987, AMS is based in Ottery, Cape Town, but works throughout the country and continent.
Managing director Willy Wisbeach thanks all management and staff for their contribution and efforts, as without their dedication the company would not have reached the milestone.
He says over and above the one million injury-free man hours the company has had no disabling injury at the workplace in its entire operating history, which is quite an accomplishment for a company that operates in the petro-chemical, construction, engineering, and marine-loading industries, and in which much of its projects take place on live plants.
However, he says AMS takes its health and safety procedures extremely seriously.
“We have tool-box talks every morning on every one of our sites during which specific dangers and routines are discussed.
Furthermore, before we start any contract we submit a safety file, part of which is a risk assessment that incorporates all possible danger and possibilities of injuries on site that are explained to all employees before we commence with any work.
“Our emphasis on health and safety has many positive spin offs, because our employees are consistently made aware of both of risks and correct procedures, which promotes quality workmanship and the delivery of our projects on time,” says Wisbeach.
