Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition)
Snap and win
THE Third Annual Kirstenbosch photographic competition is running in partnership with Weekend Argus.
Now in its fifth month, the contest sees Weekend Argus feature some of the top images submitted.
These are printed monthly, showcasing some of the amazing views captured in the world-famous botanical garden.
With a R35 000 camera up for grabs for the overall winner, entrants must ensure they take their photographs inside Kirstenbosch. Each photographer may enter no more than four images each month, and monthly winners will be selected for prizes.
The competition was launched two years ago to coincide with the Kirstenbosch Centenary and has proved extremely popular.
The main sponsors are Orms and Canon.
The top eight images of the month, some of which are pictured here, will also be displayed near the main entrance to Kirstenbosch.
Entrants may submit up to four images a month.
If you enter more than one image, one must be a flower image.
There will be a photographic walk through the gardens each month led by Claude Felbert, giving hints and tips on photographing flowers.
It will be free, but participants will have to pay the entry fee of R50 to the garden if they are not members of the Botanical Society.
Anyone wishing to participate should email claudefelbert.co.za as only 25 bookings will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis.
