Protecting rhinos
INCREASED incursions at the Kruger National Park, which have left authorities with no choice but to search for new and innovative ways to protect rhinos, saw SANParks receive 40mm Under Barrel Launcher Systems yesterday.
They were donated by Milkor. Collectively, SANParks has the largest population of rhino in the world in its parks, with the majority residing in the iconic Kruger Park.
SANParks head Fundisile Mkenteni said the South African rhino population was one of the last viable rhino populations in the world. The lightweight and durable characteristic device, with its diverse less-lethal and lethal applications such as flare, smoke, flash bang, impulse and rubber bullets, will aid SANparks in its anti-poaching operations.
