Beaufort West building up for auction
A HISTORICAL double-storey building at the corner of Kerk and Donkin streets in the heart of Beaufort West will be auctioned at ClareMart’s July multiple commercial auction.
“The eye-catching property at 105 Donkin Street is zoned for business. Features include a Victorian architectural style with a balcony, a domed roof and ornamental cast- iron detail typical in Karoo towns,” says Sanjeev Boyjoonauth, ClareMart’s senior auction agent.
“This well-maintained tenanted building is in excellent condition. There’s considerable potential here for a hotel or a guesthouse in a town that draws local and foreign travellers.”
Beaufort West is one of the main stop-over towns on the route between Johannesburg and Cape Town. Just a short drive from the Karoo National Park, the town also accommodates longer- stay tourists exploring this part of South Africa.
“Beaufort West and its surrounds have become highly valued for bird-watching, fossilhunting, rock art and star gazing,” Boyjoonauth says.
Viewings and leases details are on request. The property at 105 Donkin Street will be auctioned at the One and Only Hotel, V& A Waterfront on Wednesday, at 12.30 pm.
A 5 percent deposit and 10 percent auctioneer’s commission are payable on the fall of the hammer, and the balance of the price is payable on registration of transfer.
