80% of apartments sold out at R1.3bn The Yacht Club

CONSTRUCTION has started at The Yacht Club, a R1.3 billion mixed-use development by the Amdec Group at the gateway to the V&A Waterfront and close to the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

This development will consist of a hotel and modern apartments in two towers on a podium of premium grade office space.

Amdec Property Development, part of The Amdec Group, is the development manager of The Yacht Club.

Nicholas Stopforth, Amdec Property Development’s managing director, says: “This year, construction work will focus on the two basement levels, which will supply generous dedicated parking for residents, workers and guests of The Yacht Club. The building will begin rising out of the ground from January, and construction will be complete in May 2018.

“About 80 percent of the 170 apartments at The Yacht Club have now been sold. The onebedroom, two- bedroom, and luxury corner apartments range in size from 54m to 99m2. The apartments have proved popular with owner occupiers as well as investors, who have welcomed the potential for long- term leases. Many of these buyers are based in Johannesburg.

“The residential apartments have all-round views including Cape Town Harbour or Table Mountain. We are now in the final stretch for apartment sales at The Yacht Club.”

As The Yacht Club apartments near sell out, Amdec is turning its attention to the roughly 6 550m prime office component of the development. “The offices will have views of the waterfront and the space is flexible enough to house a single large tenant or several smaller tenants,” says Stopforth.

The Yacht Club is within the Roggebaai Canal Tourism Precinct, named after the Roggebaai Canal which runs through it. It is linked to a variety of tourist, business, transport, retail, and recreation facilities, all within its immediate vicinity.

“The Yacht Club’s nautically inspired design will reflect the heritage of this setting. It also connects seamlessly with the city’s major business districts, South Africa’s commercial hubs and beyond,” says Stopforth.

“The development has easy access by car, bus, shuttle, taxi and by water taxi on the Roggebaai Canal waterway. It has direct highway links across the city and to Cape Town International Airport.”
