Mayfair offices at Century City sell fast

THERE has been a flurry of sales at the Mayfair Commercial development nearing completion at Century City, says Jason Elley of Rabie Property Group, which is developing the project.

Four of the six office buildings have now been sold to owner- occupiers and strong interest is being shown in the remaining two. Mayfair Commercial comprises 3 000m² of sectional-title offices, and forms part of a mixed-use development highly visible from Century Way, one of the major thoroughfares of Century City.

Elley says the development has proven particularly popular with small owner-occupiers wanting their own buildings and corporate identity. He says Block A was sold to an investor and let to financial services company iProtect, and the other three blocks had been sold to companies that will be occupying their own premises.

Block B has been sold to At The Gate, a company specialising in access control and visitor management solutions, and Blocks C and D have both been sold to IT companies, Methys and Velocity. All four buildings are nearing completion and will be ready for occupation this month. Elley says the two remaining double-storey office buildings – one of 667m² and the other 374m² – both have large terrace areas and parking on a ratio of four bays a 100m². These buildings will be ready for occupation by the end of the year.

“Now that potential buyers and tenants can see the quality of the development, its location and the excellent corporate exposure to be had, interest has picked up strongly and we expect the remaining buildings to go quickly.”

Elley says Mayfair Commercial is in an extremely popular node conveniently located within close walking distance of the MyCiTi bus terminus, Canal Walk Shopping Centre, restaurants, a school and a crèche.

“Occupants will also be able to access additional parking at Century City’s e-parking facility and will have access to Century City Connect, Century City’s open access fibre-optic network.”

The offices are being sold for between R20 000/ m ² and R22 500/ m ² , excluding VAT, with rentals at around R155/m².
