‘Vison of Love’ sours for Carey and Packer

-

LOS ANGELES: James Packer was “jealous” of Mariah Carey’s back-up dancer and choreographer Bryan Tanaka, a new report claims in the wake of the news of the celebrity couple’s dramatic split.

TMZ claimed “sources connected with Mariah” had revealed the tension between the Australian billionaire and Tanaka that led to a showdown last June.

The website claims that following a loud argument between the men, “Packer used his casino ties to get Tanaka banned from Caesar’s Palace”, where the songstress has a residency.

It has become a very messy and dramatic end to the love story between the 46-year-old songstress and the 48-year-old businessman.

The couple have not seen each other in over a month after a fight while on a romantic European vacation, her spokesperson has said.

The pair’s engagement unravelled during a stay on a luxury yacht in Greece in September.

TMZ reported Packer allegedly did something “really bad” that involved Carey’s assistant and there are other allegations about his behaviour.

Her spokesperson has denied speculation the split was over infidelity and insists Carey’s excessive spending was not to blame.

“Right now, they’re not sure if they will stay together. They are discussing it, and plan to release an official statement together about their future.”

Packer was noticeably absent from Carey’s Halloween party, where the star was seen posing for photos with her ex-husband Nick Cannon and their twins.

The split was first reported by Woman’s Day in Australia, with a family friend revealing: “It’s all over”.

The publication also claimed that the tycoon has allowed her to keep her $10 million diamond engagement ring.

The pair became engaged in January after a whirlwind romance of less than a year.

The duo remained coy on the details of their impending nuptials, but Mariah did suggest that the wedding would be a low-key event rather than an ostentatious affair.

“I can’t really talk about them right now because everything is still being figured out. I never said it was gonna be a big wedding,” she told People magazine earlier this year.

The seemingly unlikely couple first set tongues wagging in June last year when images emerged of them holding hands strolling around the island of Capri in Italy.

The news of their split comes after Mariah announced the cancellation of most of her South American tour earlier this week.

Carey revealed she was “devastated” at the outcome and took to Twitter on Tuesday to share a link to her official statement to E! News.

“To all of my lambs in South America, I am devastated that a portion of this tour had to be cancelled. Thank you for all of the excitement and love – I hope to see you soon, my darlings!” she wrote.

Mariah also shared an impassioned message on Twitter, writing: “Devastated my shows in Chile, Argentina & Brazil had to be cancelled. My fans deserve better than how some of these promoters treated them (sic).” – Daily Mail
