Police confiscate trove of stolen goods
TWO MEN were arrested for possession of four stolen bulletproof vests, dangerous weapons, nurses’ epaulettes, social security bank cards and stolen cellphones, in Ekuphumleni, Khayelitsha.
The men, aged 19 and 22, were arrested after allegedly robbing and assaulting another man.
One of the bulletproof vests was stolen a few months ago from a police vehicle. Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, provincial police spokeswoman, said Lingelethu police had been approached by members of the community, who informed them that three men had been robbing residents yesterday morning.
“Police followed up on information they received from one of the victims and arrested two suspects in Ekuphumleni, Khayelitsha.”
Police searched the house, confiscating two cellphones that were allegedly taken from victims yesterday.
More presumed stolen property was found at the house. The men will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
