US soldier killed

NAIROBI: A US service member was killed in Somalia during a Somali-led mission against the al-Shabaab militant group, US military officials said.

The solider died on Thursday while US forces were assisting a Somali National Army operation near Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital.

Two US servicemen were wounded during the operation, when US troops were hunting an al-Shabaab commander near the Shabelle River, a source said.
