Trustees give nod to auction of Constantia mansion

-

AS INSTRUCTED by the trustees in a high-profile insolvency matter, the ClareMart Auction Group will conduct the auction of a multilevel, designer Constantia home at the One&Only Hotel in the V&A Waterfront on August 29.

The property was the home of the South African director of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, Lubabalo Mayekiso, and his wife Ncediwe, a well-known Cape Israel lobbyist couple, who were sequestrated by their creditors in 2014, according to newspaper reports.

“Following a protracted legal battle to obtain consent to sell the Constantia mansion, the upcoming sale will now be held under the auspices of the appointed trustees, Herman Bester of Tygerberg Trustees and Tasneem Mahomed of TSM Consulting Services,” says Andrew Koch, ClareMart general executive director.

The lower level of the 4 400m² property, in Belair Drive in the Constantia Valley, includes a spacious reception room, an open-plan family room that leads to the dining room and has easy access to the kitchen with scullery and laundry, and a lounge that lends itself to cosy entertaining, he says.

A private theatre and gaming room, a wine cellar and a bar area are also on this level, as are a guest toilet and spacious storeroom.

The upper level comprises five bedroom suites.

“The master suite flows to a wrap-around balcony from which the location of the property can be appreciated,” he says.

A large swimming pool is a centrepiece in the landscaped gardens, and five garages ensure ample secure off-street parking and storage.

The property includes fullyequipped staff accommodation designed to match the design of the main house.

The property was recently valued at more than R20 million, says Koch, who adds: “It will be interesting to see how the market responds to this investment opportunity. We have already received inquiries from serious investors who recognise the value and potential of this multi-million property.”

18 Belair Drive, Constantia, will be on show from 2pm to 5pm on August 20 and August 27.

The property will be one of the highlights at ClareMart’s next multiple auction, which will be held at the One&Only Hotel at the V&A Waterfront, at 1.15pm on August 29.

A 5% deposit and 6% auctioneer’s commission, excluding VAT on commission, will be payable on the fall of the hammer.
