Bringing joy to kids for a decade

- Tyler Roodt

BUGZ Playpark is celebrating its 10th birthday today and the park is inviting everyone to join in the birthday festivities.

Founded by Lise Liebenberg in 2007, the park has come a long way from just a few horse rides and a little hotdog stand.

Under the motto “play with purpose”, Bugz now boasts a gigantic outdoor park with all the rides you’d expect from a fully fledged play park, such as swings, jungle gyms and water slides, among other things.

Liebenberg said: “I wanted to create a place where we would preserve the magic of being a child for all children, including those with disabilities.”

Bugz Playpark uses professional party planners and hosts almost 1 000 specialised children’s parties every year. What sets it apart from other playparks is that it offers diverse play experiences for kids between the ages of 2 and 10, along with an big shaded outdoor playpark and a huge indoor section.

Liebenberg has always had a passion for teaching and developing children. Before founding Bugz, she visited 30 parks all over the world including the US, Brazil and Europe. After her global trek, she decided to open her own.

“When you want to do something you feel passionate about making a success, you will research, budget and fight for it – as long as it takes,” she said.

The celebration takes place from 11am until 5pm. To join in, book your tickets online at www.bugzplaypark.co.za .
