Pioneering wine estate in Plettenberg Bay up for auction

A PLETTENBERG Bay wine estate that has won national and international awards will go up for auction in Cape Town on January 24.

The 16.8 hectare boutique wine estate includes a well-established 200-seater restaurant, a state-of-the-art wine cellar, a house with a pool and a self-catering guest cottage.

Bramon Wine Estate, situated 20km east of Plettenberg Bay in The Crags, was founded by one of the current owners, Peter Thorpe. He pioneered the first vineyard in the area, says Tanya Jovanovski, franchisee of Rawson Auctions Western Cape.

“The cellar spans 725m and can store up to 250 tonnes of equipment and wine. It is equipped with an Enoveneta bag press, a de- stemmer crusher, peristaltic wine and pulp pumps, fermentation tanks, a large Daikin chilling plant, a compressor, a water filtration system, a sterilisation plant, a tasting area, a laboratory, a pump and equip- ment room, a restroom and an office.”

The estate also has an offsales tasting centre with a licence to sell wine seven days a week. Set in the vineyards is the restaurant, which can be used for tastings.

The main house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms (both en-suite), a lounge/dining room, a kitchen and scul- lery, a study, a cellar and a deck with a rim-flow pool and two braais. The self-catering cottage has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a dressing room, two balconies, an open-plan lounge, a dining area, and a kitchen with fireplace.

“The second cottage has its own kitchen, a lounge/dining room, a bathroom, a study, two carports, and a deck.”

The farm is functional and productive.

A large-capacity generator, tractor, mist-blower, ploughs, general implements, diesel bowser, and a Ford diesel bakkie are among items that will be included in the sale of the property.

The property will go on auction at noon on January 24. The reserve price is available on application, but all offers will be reviewed.

All offers should be submitted on the Offer to Purchase form from info@rawsonauctions.com or 021 837 1700. Bids can be delivered to the Rawson Property Group’s head office at 222 Main Road, Rondebosch.
