A year of revolution

-

PHEW, what a year 2017 was for South Africa!

Politics took the limelight, with not a day going by without incidents of state capture, corruption, political killings etc taking the lead.

With a new ANC leadership in place, hopefully this year will bring an end to all these shenanigans and bring normality to South Africa.

We should forget about new year’s resolutions and wish for a new year’s revolution, whereby the billions of rand which were looted from the state coffers are recovered and the looters brought to book.

The stolen money could be utilised honestly to assist the National Development Plan.

I hope this is not just wishful thinking.

On the sporting front, 2017 was a year of mixed results.

Our national rugby and soccer teams blew hot and cold.

Hopefully, the Proteas can do us proud by beating India in the Test series.

Banyana Banyana did us proud and so did many of our other sporting teams.

The cream of the crop were our athletes and swimmers, who bagged many gold medals, while breaking records.

Among them were Wayde van Niekerk, Caster Semenya and Chad le Clos.

All South Africans should look forward positively to a prosperous 2018.
