KENILWORTH Racecourse will be turned into Cape Town’s very own green catwalk next Saturday for the Sun Met.
“Style Ahead of the Field” encourages all racegoers to come dressed “Afro-chic” in vibrant colours, prints as well as beautiful, intricate fabric designs that “immediately evoke Africa”. Event organisers say the theme will be achieved by mixing genres, where trendy modern attire is infused with the inspiration of Africa. Racegoers are also promised a “premium culinary” experience.
One of the biggest attractions will be a best-dressed competition which will take place at the entertainment marquee tent where one lucky lady and gent stand a chance of winning a prize package valued at R50 000 which includes a resort experience sponsored by Sun International (exclusive of travel), a Tumi Knox backpack and a Voyageur Halle backpack. A R25 000 voucher from the V&A Waterfront is also up for grabs, a custom-made designer garment from Imprint ZA or Khosi Nkosi as well as VIP access to the official Sun Met 2018 after-party at the Grand Beach Café on January 28.
The competition will be hosted by reigning Miss South Africa, Adé van Heerden, and Zweli Dube from 3.40pm to 4pm.
Fashion designers will showcase show-stopper pieces between the races from 1 to 3pm at the Entertainment Marquee tent leading up to the Best Dressed competition.
The Sun Met Fashion Show designers include Khosi Nkosi, Imprint ZA, Rich Factory and House of Olé.
