The Imperial Ice Stars’ take on Cinderella glides to a thrilling climax, writes

prolong the inevitable day zero,” they say.

“These values have been at the very core of all the Cinderella On Ice production planning. It is imperative our audiences are well informed that the water required for Cinderella On Ice is sourced and imported in its solid state from outside of Cape Town and that the water required for daily maintenance is not only nonpotable water but negligible.”

As for the costumes, Bella and I agreed the opening scene after interval, with black, white and silver complementing the art deco-inspired ballroom set, was our favourite, with the striking reds and cerises of the stepmother – a visual cue to her character – coming a close second.

Head designer at Moscow’s famed Stanislavsky Theatre, Albina Gabueva, is the person responsible for those, and the sets are by one of Australia’s top scenic designers, Eamon D’Arcy.

I was momentarily annoyed when the skaters initiated their own encore after taking their bows to a standing ovation, but it turned out to be a display of even more daring and gasp-inducing moves, lifts and throws, bringing the show to a thrilling climax.

Performances in the Artscape Opera House are Tuesday to Friday at 7.30pm, Saturday 3pm and 7.30pm, and Sunday at 2pm and 6pm. Book at Computicket.
