Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition)
Why is Cape Flats crime not addressed?
I E-MAILED the letter below on February 28 and I am yet to receive a reply.
Since then, in Lavender Hill/ Steenberg, four people have been killed and many more injured because of the ongoing violence in the community.
Yesterday I noticed a post on Facebook by South Peninsula Parents and the message read: “because of the recent spate of violent crime in the Valley (Fish Hoek) they have reached out to Premier Helen Zille, and requested a meeting to discuss ideas on how to address these issues immediately”.
They are very pleased to announce that the premier, Dan Plato and various heads of police in the
Western Cape have agreed to attend a meeting with the community to jointly discuss the issues on, March 20, at 6.30pm at Fish Hoek High School.
Imagine my anger and outrage. I am yet to receive a reply from any of the offices. This e-mail was addressed last month. The people of Fish Hoek had a man knifed off his bike and the whole Western Cape, including the premier, will be at a meeting.
Meanwhile in Lavender Hill/ Steenberg, a mother on her way to the shop is gunned down, a man on his way to church is gunned down, a child walking to school is gunned down and not a reply!
Do so-called coloured lives not matter? Our children have a right to be safe.
