A step in the right direction
MORE than 10 000 pupils from across South Africa have received a new pair of school shoes to better equip them for the school year.
The campaign #KrushGoodness was created by fruit juice makers Clover Krush. They also got local celebrities on board to deliver the school shoes. This week actress Bonnie Mbuli delivered shoes to Bellville Suid Primary School and TV presenter Lalla Hirayama did the same at Winsley Primary School
(also in Bellville). More than 1 000 pupils in the Western Cape will receive shoes.
Other celebrities who visited schools elsewhere in the country included rapper Proverb and singer Lira.
Nonhlanhla Hlatshwayo, senior brand manager for Krush, said they want to spread goodness throughout communities in SA with this campaign.
“The effect of goodness, no matter how big or small, can do wonders for children’s physical and mental well-being, even encouraged others to feel as good as they do.
“Through our #KrushGoodness campaign, we are setting out to show that adding a little bit of goodness every day has the power to change the world for the better. If we start our day with one good deed, it has the power to transform someone’s day, leading to them adding a bit of goodness to someone else’s day and so the goodness spreads, ultimately inspiring a world of goodness.”
Hlatshwayo said: “Children represent the future and they represent innocence and goodness and if we add a little dose of goodness to make it easier for them to get to school so they can concentrate on learning, it adds goodness into their lives.”
The national Department of Education helped with research to identify 12 schools in Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape with children who are in desperate need of school shoes. – JBJ Reporter
