Who will crack the nod for Harry and Meg’s nuptials?

-

LONDON: Speculation has surged over which celebrities will attend the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since the British royal family announced that hundreds of invitations had been sent out for the event at Windsor Castle on May 19.

However, even the number of guests remains anyone’s guess, with most royal observers putting the figure at about 600, while others claim 800 people are on the invitation list.

An even more exclusive group of around 200 guests has been invited to an evening reception hosted by Harry’s father, Prince Charles, at nearby Frogmore House.

Betting firms have tried to fill in some of the celebrity names, with the favourites including Canadian actor Patrick Adams, Markle’s co-star in the television drama Suits.

Singer Elton John looks certain to be there after he cancelled two concerts in Las Vegas that had clashed with the wedding date.

And if Legoland Windsor’s 60 000brick replica of Windsor Castle and all its wedding guests is accurate, the reformed Spice Girls will also be there.

Actress Priyanka Chopra, reportedly Markle’s friend, also appeared to breach royal protocol by confirming her attendance to US media.

There is a flurry of bets on Ed Sheeran prompting William Hill Betting to cut the odds of him performing the first song at the wedding from 5-1 to 3-1.

“Clearly Ed Sheeran has a connection with the royal family and we understand that he would accept if asked,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams. “– dpa/African News Agency (ANA)
