Zulu Song Cycle. Celebrated composer and cellist Dr Thokozani Mhlambi is performing at the Baxter on May 26 – one show only. The culturally diverse programme includes a musical imaging of Ntsikana (the 18th century Xhosa poet); cello pieces by Bach; and healing songs of Hildegard von Bingen (the medieval composer/heretic nun). Dr Mhlambi will be joined by Ncebakazi Mnukwana (on Xhosa Uhadi bow), a lecturer in African music and music education at Stellenbos­ch University, and by Theo Ndindwa (dancer/choreograp­her). Curator and writer Shiba Mazaza will host the evening. Dr Mhlambi is the NRF Postdoctor­al Fellow in Innovation at the Archive and Public Culture Research Initiative at UCT. Tickets are R100. Seeing is Believing Live SA Tour. British illusionis­t Dynamo is on at the GrandWest Arena – on Friday, May 18 at 8pm; Saturday, May 19 at 3pm and 8pm.
