Zulu Song Cycle. Celebrated composer and cellist Dr Thokozani Mhlambi is performing at the Baxter on May 26 – one show only. The culturally diverse programme includes a musical imaging of Ntsikana (the 18th century Xhosa poet); cello pieces by Bach; and healing songs of Hildegard von Bingen (the medieval composer/heretic nun). Dr Mhlambi will be joined by Ncebakazi Mnukwana (on Xhosa Uhadi bow), a lecturer in African music and music education at Stellenbosch University, and by Theo Ndindwa (dancer/choreographer). Curator and writer Shiba Mazaza will host the evening. Dr Mhlambi is the NRF Postdoctoral Fellow in Innovation at the Archive and Public Culture Research Initiative at UCT. Tickets are R100. Seeing is Believing Live SA Tour. British illusionist Dynamo is on at the GrandWest Arena – on Friday, May 18 at 8pm; Saturday, May 19 at 3pm and 8pm.
