Eco-Logic awards for heroes who strive to save our planet
The Eco-Logic Awards judging panel recently announced the nominees who will be receiving their awards on World Environment Day, June 5.
The ceremony will be hosted by Enviropaedia in Tshwane.
Publisher of Enviropaedia and founder of the Eco-Logic awards, David Parry-Davies said: “The Eco- Logic Awards promote the best of South Africa’s Eco-Champions.
“This is becoming more and more relevant for consumers today, particularly when you look at just how much they care about the moral and environmental values and behaviour of the brands they choose to support.”
The judging panel consists of 14 people including Smile 90.4FM presenter, Maurice Carpede, who said: “It was tough deciding on the ultimate winners from all the entries, but I believe each entry is worthy.
“Every effort made to save our planet is welcomed, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem to some, because as a collective we have so much more power to make a positive difference.”
The nominee list in the EcoYouth category includes:
Sibusiso Mnisi, who helped NPO, the Good Work Foundation, develop a conservation academy to assist people who are interested in a career in conservation.
Jacobus van der Linden for his Footsteps to Good Hope project, in which he walked 977km from Alexander Bay to Cape Point to create awareness of man’s responsibility to the natural environment.
Hanaan and Khaleel Akoojee, who developed a river dirt catcher to help clean up the Jukskei River after the floods in Joburg in 2016.
Hunter Mitchell, who is raising money to help care for a young rhino calf and has done many campaigns and fund-raisers to help protect and raise awareness for the rhinos of South Africa.
All the nominees are extraordinary individuals striving to keep our planet alive.
The ceremony will host more than 400 guests, including celebrities, renowned conservationists, business executives, and government officials.
