Don a chef’s hat and learn to cook like Ramsey

- STAFF REPORTER

BEANS who enjoy making yummy food are in for a treat.

The Table Bay Hotel is holding another round of Mini Chefs workshops, so kids who aspire to be the next Gordon Ramsey or Jamie Oliver have a chance to learn from professional chefs.

Even those who just like food will be catered for at the workshops, which are scheduled to take place until November.

The workshops are intended to open children’s minds to the wonder of food and the exciting ways to cook it.

The two-hour workshops are for children aged between six and 12, and they will have the opportunity to take home the dishes they prepare.

Hotel spokesperson Sarah Prins said:

“We go back to basics to teach our young chefs about cooking for good health and environmental sustainability, as well as safety in the kitchen.”

Some of the workshop projects are working with chocolate (yum!), different dough techniques, cake icing and decorating, hot-dish preparation and making pastries.

The workshops are scheduled for The Table Bay Hotel on Saturdays from 1pm to 3pm, and cost R350 for the workshop, a recipe card and the dish prepared.

It is important to book as there is only space for 15 young chefs per session. To book, contact: tablebaydining@ suninternational.com or call 021 406 5988.
