SAY CHEESE TO WARM UP YOUR WINTER

- BIANCA COLEMAN

WE ALL have our ways of marking the changing of the seasons and among mine is the annual series of jazz and cheese fondue Sunday afternoons at Delheim, which begin tomorrow and run until the end of August, a sure signal that winter is well under way.

This year, a collaboration between the Cape Town Music Academy (CTMA) and Jazz In The Native Yards will bring an inspiring showcase of fresh new talent to these well-liked afternoons.

“Our downstairs cellar provides the perfect platform for young musicians who don’t just play standards but give interpretations and produce their very own compositions with international appeal, and we are super stoked,” says Delheim’s Nora Sperling-Thiel. “The Jazz & Cheese Fondue series is one of our most well supported events which now goes to the next level with three live jazz sessions/ concerts per event, with superb estate wine and lingering cheese aromas thrown in for good measure.” long wooden tables in the tasting cellar where you’ll tuck into bubbly pots of melted cheese fondue made in the traditional Swiss style, served with hunks of crusty bread and tasty wines. It’s something best experienced with a group of friends and/or family, and booking through Webtickets is essential; no walk-ins are permitted. Among the benefits of joining the Delheim wine club is preferential booking for this.

Tickets are R450, which includes the live jazz performances, glühwein and soup on arrival, and the hearty fondue meal which will be served with complimentary Delheim wines between the first and second act. There will also be a coffee bar.

Arrive any time from noon. The first band set is at 12.30pm, and the fondue is served at 1.15pm. For more information call 021 888 4600.
