Pages 4&5 Insider’s Guide to Paternoster
September is my favourite month. It heralds the new, and we are even driven to begin spring cleaning our homes.
It is as though we are having a mini celebration after surviving the dark winter.
It reminds me of a friend who was standing on my balcony and having his say about my apparently dead plants. “The thing about women,” he said, staring directly at me,
“is that you don’t throw things away.”
I looked at the barren branches of my plants on that cool winter’s night, and for a moment contemplated tossing them. A few months later, as spring approached, they began to put forth shoots, then blossomed, adding a burst of colour to my balcony. I was glad I had kept them.
I think that is why this season is my favourite. It promises so much hope.
Happy spring (cleaning). Vivian Warby and the HOME team
