UPGRADING NEW AREAS

-

MANY sellers are relocating to upgrade, and this is happening across the Cape Metro, says Greeff’s Mike Greeff.

“We have had clients relocate from the Atlantic Seaboard to Constantia, for example, due to a growing family and a desire to live in a more rural area.”

Generally they are moving to more expensive areas or better properties in the same area.

Seeff’s George Clelland says more than half the sales in the southern suburbs are people wanting bigger houses and better neighbourhoods.

Rawson’s Nancy Todd says people are moving less often and are more inclined to extend and renovate their homes.

These sellers are drawn to Bergvliet, Meadowridge and Tokai, and school pockets like Newlands and Rondebosch.

Sellers in affluent suburbs are always upgrading, says Re/Max Living’s Thiry Murray. This is particularly evident in Fresnaye, Bantry Bay and Camps Bay.

On the West Coast sellers often stay in the area but move into upgraded homes, says Century 21’s Tamara Nettmann.
