BORN in Melbourne, Florida, on this day in 1943, James Douglas “Jim” Morrison was an American singer, songwriter, and poet, and lead vocalist of the rock band The Doors. Due to his distinctive voice, wild personality and early death, Morrison is regarded by many as one of the most iconic frontmen in rock music history. Morrison had an alcohol addiction. His lover found his body on July 3, 1971, in their Paris apartment. He was 27.
