Man pleads guilty to ramming pedestrians

A MAN who deliberately rammed a car into pedestrians in an Australian city street, killing one and injuring another 16 people, pleaded guilty yesterday to multiple charges, including murder.

Saeed Noori, 33, drove his mother’s Sports Utility Vehicle into pedestrians on December21 last year on a pavement in Melbourne, Australia’s second-largest city.

He pleaded guilty in the Victoria state Supreme Court to the murder of 83-year-old man Antonios Crocaris, who died in a hospital.

His lawyers had told the court Noori suffers from schizophrenia.

Noori came to Australia from Afghanistan as a refugee in 2004 and is now an Australian citizen.

He will return to court for a sentencing hearing on February 12.
