BIDWAY Auction House will end its auction year on a high note with the exclusive sale of the contents of Julian’s Restaurant and Julian’s Ceramics in Bredasdorp on Tuesday.

The well-known restaurant, one of the most upmarket in the area, has been an iconic part of Bredasdorp for many years, says auctioneer Stef Olivier.

The 200-seater establishment was furnished with some unique pieces: the tables, chairs, bar chairs and lounge furniture were made specifically for the restaurant.

“The custom-made furniture and the crockery, which was handmade by the owner, who is world-renowned for his unique style and design of pottery, are among the features that made the interior of the restaurant so special.”

The complete contents of the restaurant will be sold. Olivier says the kitchen equipment is less than 14 months old as the kitchen was completely redone following a major fire, which almost closed the business, 18 months ago.

Among the items on offer will be a six-burner Imperial gas stove, a 10-burner gas steak griller, a double-deck pizza oven, chip fryers, an under-counter bar fridge and two double-door beverage coolers. A variety of stainless steel tables as well as double pot sinks, shelving, dough mixers, a double-barrel Slush Puppy machine and a popular-brand, double-head espresso coffee machine will also be available.

Also on the auction will be the complete contents of Julian’s Ceramics and Pottery store, with more than 3 000 handmade pottery and ceramic pieces to be sold, including platters, plates, bowls, cups, kettles, jugs, vases and candle holders.

“With such a variety and collection of pottery on offer, I believe this auction will be one of a kind and might well be a first in South Africa,” he says.

The auction items may be viewed on site between 9am and 4pm on Monday at Julian’s Restaurant and Ceramics, 22 All Saints Road, Bredasdorp. The auction will be held at the same venue, starting at 11am on Tuesday.
