I CANNOT believe that after two weeks, the tips about getting rid of mosquitoes and nesting doves are still coming in. There are far too many to print all of them, but thanks to all the readers for tips. Your help is appreciated, but more important to me is that after all these years, my column still attracts such a big readership.

Also, it is great that people are keen to point out my mistakes or correct my doubts.

Your comment “if the city website is to be believed” seems to imply a measure of doubt on your part. A few weeks ago, I visited the Athlone site (accessible off the N2 at Exit 12 into Bunga Avenue and signposted to first left from there) for the first time with broken asbestos garden pots and other asbestos bits. The process was thoroughly and professionally handled.

I needed our municipal account number (which I could access via my emails on my phone, fortunately). They also take old paint and fluorescent tubes. Much better than putting these in our refuse bins.

Well done to the City of Cape Town for this facility.
