Weekend Argus (Saturday Edition)
TIP OF THE WEEK
I MUST nail my colours to the mast of the brigade who are against the council’s decision to reduce the levels of water restrictions.
I believe so many of us have made life-changing decisions to protect the future that a decision to make life easier for some is purely being made for political reasons. I will continue to campaign for water-saving, drive a dirty car and fill my swimming pool with wellpoint water, even if it costs more in chemicals.
This week I want to encourage anyone doing a new build or a bathroom alteration to look at the new generation of toilet cisterns, called Arumloo, that use under two litres of water. I heard about them on the radio.
The amount of water used to flush a toilet can vary, with a standard loo consuming up to 13 litres a flush.
While the low-flush toilet exhibits the features of a regular toilet bowl, the system is specifically designed in the form of an arum lily so the water is flushed effectively.
The vortex is the best natural way of getting things down; the water is able to flush the pan effectively without using too much water.
