Courts evacuated after bomb threats
BERLIN: Three German courts in
Kiel, Erfurt and Magdeburg were evacuated after receiving bomb threats by email, daily Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung reported yesterday.
Anti-terrorism police were also investigating suspicious envelopes sent to universities in Greece from India on Thursday after tests found an industrial irritant that triggered an allergic reaction in staff members.
The envelopes were addressed to 12 university rectors across Greece, from its islands to the mainland and Athens, and some had a printed note of “Islamist content” inside, written in English, a police official said, without elaborating.
Seven people reported a respiratory reaction after coming into contact with an envelope addressed to the rector of the University of the Aegean on the island of Lesbos, authorities said. Some letters were intercepted before reaching the intended recipients. |
