Bid for poultry abattoir, meat production factory wares
WESTERN Cape Auctions has received instruction from the directors of “The Duck Farm”, a poultry abattoir and meat production factory, to sell all the equipment used to produce duck meat for the retail food industry at a public auction at its Joostenberg Vlakte farm premises.
“Production at the farm was stopped because of the countrywide bird flu epidemic,” says auctioneer Chris Baard.
He says the equipment on offer will include two cold rooms, a freezer room, cold room panels, a submersible pump for water treatment and sludge, stainless steel work tables, stainless steel processing tables, stainless steel handwash basins and a stainless steel tank for stunning and bleeding through.
In addition there will be four computer systems, including Samsung and other LCD screens with meat processing software, two IT equipment cabinets, wire lockers, water tanks, a Karcher high-pressure machine, wheelie bins, plastic crates, PVC industrial meat crates/ bins, live bird crates, hessian bags, a trailer that is not roadworthy and not registered, air conditioners, roof and IBR sheeting and wooden poles and other scrap.
The auction will be held at 11am on February 13 at The Duck Farm premises in Kiewiet Street, Joostenberg Vlakte, Kraaifontein.
The viewing days are on Monday and Tuesday from 10am to 3.30pm.
Baard says buyers will have to supply certified electricians and plumbers to disconnect the equipment they have bought, as well as their own labour to remove the auction items from the premises.
“The equipment inside the factory will be disposed of first, and only once everything has been removed can the cold and freezer rooms be removed. Specific days will be allocated for removal,” he says.
