Lalela tours to be held in honour of Mandela

- Tyler Roodt

THIS year’s Investec Cape Town

Art Fair (ICTAF) will feature more than 100 galleries from more than 200 artists, but one of the more interesting of these might be the Lalela organisation’s panel, where they will host their Kids-4-Kids tours.

Lalela is an organisation that was founded in 2010 during the Fifa World Cup by artists from around the Western Cape. The organisation was started with the intention of teaching art to children who may not be able to learn from anywhere else.

The Kids-4-Kids tours are all about helping children appreciate art more by having Lalela’s own young artists walk them through the process of creating their art pieces while also teaching them about the meanings behind them in the hopes that they are able to gain a greater appreciation for the many forms of art and the work that goes into it.

The tours are being held in honour of the Global Citizen Festival as a tribute to Nelson Mandela who was known for having an affinity for children and encouraged them to educate themselves as much as possible.

In addition to the art tours, Lalela will also be showcasing scarves based on artwork from the children at the organisation.

ICTAF will be held between 15 and 17 February.

There is sure to be something for all art enthusiasts, young and old alike.
