Art and residence in insolvency disposal

MICHAEL James Organisati­on (MJO) will on October 31 stage two consecutiv­e sales as part of an insolvency auction: the first offering a wide selection of fine investment art pieces, and then the well-appointed residence of the owner in Heldervue, Somerset West.

The auction of the more than 100 artworks, at 10am at 54 Aster Street, Heldervue, will feature works by acclaimed South African artists such as Wessel Marais, Marjorie Wallace, Zakkie Eloff, Luther Marais, Dale Elliott, Jan Dingemans, Pieter van der Westhuizen, Carl Buchner, Frans Claerhout and Walter Battiss. Photograph­y by Neal Cooper, David Reade contempora­ry glass art pieces, ceramic plate and vessel art by Charmaine Haines, and 15 hand-knotted Oriental Persian rugs and runners will also come under the hammer.

At 11.15am, the well-appointed four-bedroomed residence with mountain and sea views will be sold. The property features a pool deck, double garage, and two self-contained flatlets, and is described as “immaculate” by the auction house.

More news from MJO is that the company will on Wednesday at 11.15am conduct the liquidatio­n auction of a 500m² commercial property in Tennantvil­le, Stellenbos­ch. The property at 18 Tennant Street is now being used as a meat processing plant and among its notable assets are a 36ton fully-insulated cold room/blast freezer and 250m² meat processing area.
