AUCTIONS Lease for restaurant site on busy Newlands corner up for grabs

RAWSON Auctions Western Cape will on June 24 at noon auction a five-year lease option on premises previously rented as a national franchised restaurant for the past 12 years. However, any franchise option can be negotiated separately by the new lessee, says Tanya Jovanovski, regional franchisee of Rawson’s.

Jovanovski says: “The property is in walking distance of the Great Westerford office block, Dean Street Shopping Centre, Sacs, Westerford High School, and Newlands Rugby Stadium and has great visibility from its base on the corner of Main Road and Dean Street in Newlands. This corner has heavy foot traffic daily.

“The interior finishes are of a high quality and the current layout – with seating for 250 – is practical. There is a kitchen; two serving and preparation areas; storage and cold rooms; a play area for children; two bathrooms and a staff changing room.

The venue could be sub-divided into a restaurant and takeaway service. The restaurant’s entire contents, valued at over R800 000, can be purchased as an option.

“The property, with 500m² retail space, is well-maintained. We expect bidding to start at between R85 000 and R95 000 for monthly rental but all offers will be considered.”

The lease will be auctioned at Rawson’s head office at 222 Main Road, Rondebosch, if lockdown regulations allow it, and there will be no registration fee.

If not, the disposal will take place with bidders having three other options to acquire the lease: by telephone bidding, online bidding via registration on www.instantproperty.co.za or submitting pre-auction offers. All these will be offered and coordinated by Rawson’s,” says Jovanovski.
