Man arrested for weapons stockpile
POLICE in Germany expressed their shock yesterday at the discovery of a large weapons and explosives stockpile at a residential home in the western city of Dortmund.
Special forces searched the property over a period of days, starting on Wednesday, police said. “We were surprised at the amount of things we found,” a spokeswoman said.
A 68-year-old resident is suspected of hoarding explosive materials at his property. He is under investigation on suspicion of violating arms laws.
Police found weapons, ammunition, suspicious chemical substances and a mine, which was detonated by experts in a field. The next day, several kilograms of TNT explosives were also seized, police said.
