Two high-end luxury retreats set to open in the Seychelles
A LUXURY resort called Waldorf Astoria Platte Island will open its doors in 2023.
Hilton announced that the brand had signed a management agreement to bring its iconic luxury brand Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts to the Seychelles.
The brand will also open Canopy by Hilton in the same year.
At Waldorf Astoria Platte Island, dubbed a “truly exclusive luxury experience”, guests can choose from the 59 seafront villas with private pools.
There are six restaurants and bars, a spa, a kids’ club, an outdoor observatory, tennis courts and a marine conservation discovery centre – all within the sanctuary of Platte Island.
About 130km south of Mahé, the island is covered with palm forest and surrounded by a coral reef and lagoon.
Guests will arrive via a small plane from Mahé and land on a small airstrip from where they will be whisked to their villa.
The brand said buildings throughout feature solar panelled roofing.
Vice-president of development, Middle East & Africa Hilton, Carlos Khneisser, said the Seychelles remains one of the world’s most desirable destinations for the discerning traveller.
“We are proud of the role our teams have played in the sustainable development of the Seychelles,” he said.
According to Seychelles News Agency, the construction of the resort will be complete by the end of next year. The Seychelles Islands Development Company (IDC), which manages Platte Island, said in a statement on its website that the top-of-the-line brand is a first for the Seychelles.
“IDC is proud to be associated with such a highly reputed brand,” the statement said.
Opening soon
The luxurious Mango House Seychelles is launching this year. It’s currently accepting bookings for travel from July.
Set deep in the south of Mahé, Mango House is a contemporary and intimate retreat.
The hotel is a 40-minute drive from the Seychelles International Airport and approximately 60 minutes from Victoria, the Seychelles capital.
The villas and suites complement the natural flora of the surroundings, and the three sun-kissed pools offer expansive views of Anse la Mouche Bay.
Travellers can enjoy spa treatments, watersports, including canoeing, kayaking and snorkelling, gym facilities with a personal trainer and gourmet dining.
