Frosler has that itchy feeling Chiefs will do the job in Conakry

KAIZER Chiefs defender Reeve Frosler feels that his side has the necessary skills and confidence to get the job done as they travel to Guinea to face off against Horoya in a CAF Champions League group stage clash at the General Lansana Conte Stadium, in Conakry, tonight (9pm kick-off).

Chiefs enter the clash third in Group C with eight points after five matches. They are equal on points with second place Horoya, who they trail on goal difference, and two points adrift of first place Wydad Casablanca who will be expected to overcome bottom of the pile Petro de Luanda in their final group game tonight.

Gavin Hunt’s men will require either a scoring draw or a win in order to progress to the next phase of the competition.

“We are feeling confident and good. Our last result in the Champions

League (a 1-0 win over Wydad) was good and we need to take that confidence onto the next game and hopefully we can continue to do well in the competition,” said Frosler.

On paper, the game should be a difficult one for Chiefs, especially considering that Horoya managed to hold them to a goalless draw in the reverse fixture at the FNB Stadium in late February. The conditions in Guinea are expected to be tougher.

“The most important thing for us to remain confident and trust in

is ourselves. We are playing away, so it will be a different ball game. We have to be patient and understand that we can do it, believing in ourselves that we will go past this step,” said Frosler.

The 23-year-old Frosler said that he has enjoyed the experience of playing in Africa’s premier club competition.

“It’s the first time I’m playing in the group stages, so I’m enjoying it. The travelling is obviously different during these Covid-19 times but I’m still enjoying it and making the most of the opportunity that has been granted to me personally and to the team as a group,” said Frosler.

While Chiefs will not be expected to win the CAF Champions League this season, the experience can be beneficial to the youngsters such as Frosler, Happy Mashiane and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo who will all be looking to firmly establish themselves within the team and grow as players.
