Workshops focus on business side
ZIYAWAMO ARTS, a non-profit organisation, is doing all it can to help young creatives learn more about the industry.
Workshop organiser and Ziyawamo chairperson Mzura Khuse said this was not the first workshop they had held.
He said he started the organisation in 2015 after seeing a gap in communities where there was no proper development of young artists.
“The reason for these workshops is to develop young creatives, because some artists focus only on their talent and not the business side of the industry and that is what we are trying to teach them in our workshops,” he said.
The programme is aimed at educating and empowering disadvantaged young talented creatives, so they can have a better business understanding of the industry they want to enter.
He said knowing the business side of the industry would not only benefit the creatives but would empower recording artists to have a better understanding of the kinds of deals and opportunities they’d be exposed to.
Khuse said the opportunities may include, but was not limited to, recording deals, live performances, endorsement deals etc.
He said because of Covid-19 this was their first workshop for the year.
Khuse said the workshops had been growing since their inception in 2015 and the response had been positive.
“We are growing strength by strength every day,” he said.
