CORRUPTION Watch say the State Capture Inquiry into corruption in SA has been instrumental in uncovering the extent of graft in institutions over the past decade. This was after the Transparency International Corruption Perception Index 2021 report was released this week. It ranks 180 countries and territories by levels of public sector corruption on a scale of zero (corrupt) to 100 (clean). It said a review of SA’s standing on the CPI since 2012 demonstrates a stagnation on the global index over the past nearly 10 years. In 2021, SA scored 44, ranking to 70 out of 180 countries. |
