Diverse range of collectables under one roof
THE MICHAEL James Organisation will auctioning a collection of artworks, fine furnishings and collectables at its headquarters at 63 Victoria Street, Somerset West. Bidding starts on Tuesday at 10am.
Among the artists whose work will go under the hammer are Lucy Mary Wiles, Hennie van Aswegen, Gerrit Roon, Izidro Duarte, Adriaan Hendrik Boshoff and Dino Paravano. There will also be sculptures by Terry Matthews, Allen Hallett and Alastair William Barnes.
The porcelain to be auctioned includes Spode Coffee, Limoges, Thomas German, Royal Kent, Foley Broadway vintage bone china, Coalport, Royal Doulton, Arzberg, an early 20th-century Wood & Sons Buddha Pattern blue-andwhite dinner service as well as other Continental porcelainware.
There will be Turkmen-style and other Persian rugs, glazed pottery ware, Waterford crystal glassware and a handmade wooden 1930s flat-bed toy truck.
The general kitchenware includes stainless-steel pots and cookware; part dinner set; small electric hand-held and other appliances; stainless-steel cutlery; Tupperware; utensils and tableware.
Vintage, mid-century modern, Victorian, antique, contemporary and general household furniture will be knocked down including French Louis-style armchairs, an antique hand-carved camphor chest and a stinkwood butcher’s block.
Viewing will be on Monday from 9am to 2pm at the auction house.
