THE WORST Restaurant in the Universe

by Jaco Jacobs might have you roaring with laughter when you read it. At least that is what happened to Jacobs while he was writing the hilarious book of 10 short stories filled with misadventures.

As well as The Worst Restaurant in the Universe, the stories include Something in the Water and The Boy Who Ate Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Popcorn.

Jacobs said he loved making up funny stories and they reflected his offbeat sense of humour.

“If you don’t want to read the book, that’s perfectly fine with me, of course. I won’t force you. won’t even threaten to call your parents or forbid you to eat ice cream for a month.

“But writing these stories was loads and loads of fun for me and they had me roaring with laughter. So, if you’re looking for funny stories to read, perhaps you could give this book a try.

“See, that was nice of me, wasn’t it?

“But if my Mr Nice Guy approach doesn’t work, then read this book or I’ll call your parents and you can forget about ice cream for a year,” he said.

“Reading is tremendously important for kids. Obviously, parents and teachers try encouraging children to read, because they know how good it is for your academic development and school marks.

“Sure, that’s great. But I think reading is important because it opens new worlds; it gives you the ability to travel across time and space, to imagine yourself in someone else’s shoes, to live multiple lives,” Jacobs added.

The book is suitable for children of 9 years and older. It retails at R195 and can be bought at bookstores nationwide.
