Trio of young entrepreneurs impress
TO BRING the prize back to Silverlea Primary School, three Grade 6 pupils are putting their entrepreneurial spirit to the test.
As part of their entry to the Growsmart competition, in the Entrepreneurship category, Zayaan Rylanda, Lethu Gobodo and Rethabile Seoposenwe are working on two ideas to not only make some money for their group but also help others make money.
Rethabile said she was happy to have been selected to take part in the competition.
“I am most grateful for being chosen by Mrs Larney to be part of the team and I feel that our project is important because we get the opportunity to help others as well.”
The trio’s two business ideas are Buddy Popcorn and Buddy Karate.
Zayaan said the reason they had chosen popcorn was that they saw a market for it at the school and popcorn gave off the feeling of relaxing in front of the TV – and it’s also yummy.
Lethu said they chose karate because there was a need for it in the community as it teaches pupils discipline and self-defence.
The pupils’ mentor Zeenat Larney, said she was very excited to help the buddies make some money while making an impact and hopefully expand their project to the greater community.
Said Larney: “Each of the three of them has their own unique personality. Rethabile is quiet, but feisty, and always ready to do adverts and takes her role very seriously.
“Lethu is the outspoken one and truly a people pleaser.
“Zayaan is very helpful and gets the job done quickly.
“The three of them make a good combination for a successful business.
“Their business idea will make an impact on not only the school but the broader community because they can offer this service to the broader public.
“The other learners of the school already know who the Boss Buddyz are. They can learn you are never too young to become an entrepreneur and start your own business.”
