It’snow wonder Abigail got the crowns
ABIGAIL Coetzee, 14, has risen above her challenges and achieved success through faith, belief – and a good support system.
The Grade 9 pupil at Brackenfell High School was crowned Miss Snow Queen Charity 2022 and Miss Snow Queen Up-and-Coming 2022 at the Mr and Miss Snow Queen and King event last weekend.
“I am really happy that I won. I enjoyed walking on the ramp, the crowd support and putting into practice what I learnt during training.
“The competition was well organised and I got to meet a lot of new people,” Abigail said.
Taking to the ramp and impressing the judges has helped her gain self-esteem after she was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and general anxiety disorder in 2020.
“Since being diagnosed, I have learnt to be myself and not to worry about what other people think of me.
“My Radiant Voguish Tactful modelling school trainers and friends are a great support system and always motivating and encouraging me to be the best version of myself.
“Credit should be given to Nadia Langedyk, who is an awesome mentor, who helped me grow as a person and has always told me to not be scared but rather smile,” she added.
Her mother Audrey said they were extremely proud of Abigail.
“She is a super-intelligent, loving young lady who works hard and always gives her best effort.
“She has a kind heart and is an example of the kind of young person we need in this world to make a difference,” she said.
Natasjha du Plessis, one of the organisers of the competition, said the entry fees and donations would be used for charity projects.
“The competition, which was a big success, was the idea of my 13-year-old daughter, Anzel.
“People loved that it was a charity pageant and that they could give back to the community,” she said.
