CHILDREN’S book author Refiloe Moahloli has released another fun book for tiny bookworms about a determined young boy who wants to bring everyone together and win.

This eighth book by Moahloli

is titled Andindodwa, with English version called Part of a Team.

Released in July, it introduces Morena as a fun boy who uses every opportunity he gets to make himself shine and takes upon himself to lead a school softball team. The team is made up of his friends, with his twin sister as a batter and himself as captain, but his team still loses. However, Morena isn't bothered by this.

“I have bigger things to worry about. Like how to be a superstar and a playmaker at the same time. I hope today is the day I figure it out,” the book reads.

The book takes a twist in chapter five and shows how controlling Morena can be when he starts imagining himself as being in the Eastern Cape during a history lesson, when the teacher challenges them to write and present about a traditional meal. The plot takes him to gGranny Zuki's house, where he enjoys home-grown fruits, and samp and beans.

“‘Beans, again? No, Gogo, no! Morena is going to kill me slowly with smells in the night,’ Rorisang protested. ‘Yes, Gogo, yes! More beans please!’ I cried even louder.’”

Explaining her idea, Moahloli said: “The themes of Andindodwa are around leadership and love (and) how when we want to effect change, we often have to start with ourselves.

“My intention as I write is that children and the inner child in adults find themselves in the stories.”

The story ends with Morena focusing not just on winning the games, but also getting the players to know each other, which then leads to their win.

The book is available at R140 at all major bookstores nationwide and online.
